
Dr. Anna Filova is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center. She has expertise in both and Addiction Psychiatry.
Dr. Filova treats each and every one of her patients as an individual with a very unique set of issues, without one-size-fits-all solutions. She focuses on getting to know her patients and creating an individualized treatment plan.
Dr. Filova does not believe in medication-only treatment and prescribes psychiatric medications only when they are warranted. She also recommends complementary and alternative treatment and techniques when appropriate to patient care. Dr. Filova uses cognitive therapy, motivational interviewing, supportive psychotherapy,elements of psychodynamic therapy, and relaxation techniques in her practice. Therapy sessions may be used in addition to medication management or offered as a separate service. Dr. Filova maintains close and collaborative relationships with a patient’s therapist when services are provided separately, or she can help with making a new and lasting connection.
Dr. Anna Filova, originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, received her MD training there. After arriving in the US, she completed her residency in Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City., and continued her professional training with a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and, another fellowship in Community Psychiatry, at Columbia University, also in New York. After working for almost 15 years in inpatient, outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs, and performing several administrative roles, including an Associate Director of Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Filova has chosen to focus on her private practice, with a goal of making a personal difference in the lives of her patients.
Dr. Filova is an active member of the voluntary faculty of Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai helping foster education of psychiatry residents, fellows, and medical students
